The Opportunity: 

As the Head Stadium Groundsperson, you will lead and inspire our grounds team to deliver pitch excellence that meets the highest standards in Premier League football. Your expertise will ensure the playing surface is meticulously maintained, renovated, and prepared to provide the perfect environment for top-level performance—planning and executing turf management activities like aeration, fertilization, and irrigation with precision. You’ll oversee all grounds equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on and off the field, while coordinating seamlessly with matchday operations to guarantee the pitch looks and plays at its best before, during, and after every fixture. Your leadership will be key in implementing health and safety protocols, managing budgets and procurement, and collaborating with pitch consultants and external specialists. With a focus on continuous improvement, you’ll stay ahead of industry innovations and support other club sites, including the Academy of Light and Eppleton Grounds, helping us maintain our reputation for excellence on and off the pitch.

What We Ask For: 

The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture, Sports Turf, or an equivalent qualification, with experience working within a stadium environment. Proven competence in PA Spraying and a full, clean driving license are essential. You should possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions accurately and convey information clearly. We are looking for someone who can work effectively both as part of a team and independently, demonstrating strong initiative and self-motivation. The ability to stay organized, remain calm under pressure, and multitask effectively while prioritizing tasks is crucial. A positive attitude and a proactive approach are essential qualities. Experience in supervising a team, working on championship or Premier League pitches, and holding additional qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 Sports Turf or PA1/PA2/PA6A Spraying certifications are highly desirable. You will be inspiring your team, fostering a positive working environment, and committed to continuous learning by participating in training activities and staying current with industry best practices. 

You will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS through SAFC.
