About the Player Recruitment Team:
Our dedicated team is committed to scouting players who not only possess the right skills but also embody the spirit and values of our club.
We utilise a comprehensive scouting network that spans local, national, and international markets, ensuring we have a diverse range of talent to consider.
Collaboration with the Coaching Team is essential; we work closely to understand the specific needs and strategies of each team, ensuring that our recruitment aligns with the club's overall vision. Our recruitment process includes thorough evaluations and trials, where we prioritise not just technical ability but also character, work ethic, and team fit.
We believe in transparency and communication, engaging with parents and players throughout the recruitment process.
The Opportunity:
The Scouting Department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scouting Analyst Intern to support its recruitment processes, offering a valuable opportunity to be directly involved in the identification, evaluation, and monitoring of players across a range of competitions and age groups.
Working closely with the scouting team, the intern will contribute to the club’s identification strategy by delivering structured analysis, maintaining up-to-date player databases, and supporting ongoing departmental projects.
Responsibilities include producing individual and collective scouting reports on professional and youth matches, conducting video scouting and monitoring selected leagues and age categories to identify players aligned with the club’s recruitment strategy, and maintaining and regularly updating player tracking lists based on scouting observations.
The role also involves performing individual player video analysis using Sportscode to enrich the department’s video database, supporting the team with live scouting assignments when required, and contributing to both ongoing and new scouting-related projects within the department.
What We Ask For:
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong interest in football scouting and recruitment processes, alongside the ability to produce clear, structured, and objective written reports. A solid understanding of game principles and player evaluation frameworks, comfortable working with video analysis tools, and experience in Sportscode and iMovie are considered advantages.
They should bring a proactive mindset and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Skills in Python and/or a background in data analysis are viewed as a strong advantage, while an understanding of the goalkeeper position would be an additional benefit for the role.
An Enhanced DBS from Sunderland AFC is required.
